Studies of physiological effects in the maturation of winter rape by application offungicide Ortiva flowers (large-scale experiment 2010)

Rape is a multi-talent with an impressive success story. Growers are certified with a yield potential of up to 7 t / ha. The farmer takes his hand, everything deadline to get this potential. Precisely as possible fertilizer, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides for a high yield structure are applied. But just when the plant wants to make her last tenth of it is cut off.
What are the causes and contexts?

Modern varieties branch generations deep and intense through the thin sowing. New treatment strategies in plant nutrition and plant protection, to maximize the assimilation and performance. The stocks are more vital. This is clearly visible on the stem Greeningeffekt. The maturation is delayed in older grades three to six days and even in newer varieties by 10 to more than 14 days. Rape leaves its traditional harvest window between winter barley and wheat, and it moves rapidly into the wheat harvest.

Loss break SPODNAM (Evaluation large-scale experiment 2009)

The breeders attest to rape a potential yield of over 7 t / ha. In practice, however, isonly about half that achieved. With increasing returns at the same time is accompanied by a deterioration of Druscheignung, in turn, steals a part of thepossible yield potential. What are the main reasons?

The number of plants per square meter have been halved in the last 20 years.Sometimes stand on a square only 30 plants that develop strong stems andbranches. The crop management has been greatly intensified by the application of growth inhibitors and fungicides, and now extends until late in the period of fullbloom. In particular, the fungicides interfere in the hormone balance.Seneszenzhormone slow the aging process. The plant will remain healthy for longerwith a higher assimilation rate. There is the famous Greeningeffekt, with delayedmaturation. This affects not only the stems that remain green longer thereby, but the pods.

The glass combine harvester – Field experiences collected with Claas Telematics

The constantly recurring question is: Where does the performance get lost during operation? feiffer consult began to search for the lost times using Telematics.

In former times, people tried to answer this question using a stop watch. Lots of people were sent to the combine harvester complexes to measure all process times, e.g. for routes, threshing, repairs, breaks, bunkering, etc.. Private agricultural companies, however, cannot afford this time and personnel expenditure. Nevertheless, such records in connection with the analysis of the harvest processes form the most important basis for conclusions and measures.  Especially in combine harvesting, the reserves are extremely high and simultaneously, the operating times are very short.  Therefore, it is necessary, to collect data very fast to be able to intervene operatively in the current harvest process and to conclude changes for the next harvest period.

Survey “Neue Landwirtschaft“ (New Agriculture)

Experts of different subject areas answer the question: “How do we overcome the crisis?”

In the Chinese language this word consists of two characters – one means “danger” and the other one means “chance”. Accordingly, the Chinese people also see the crisis as correction in case something has gone off course. - Painful, but full of chances! - Is this also true for the agriculture-based economy?  The prognoses are good. Jim Rogers, one of the biggest investors on the raw material market, says, “You are going to see an amazing development in the agricultural sector. (...) Quit your job and become a farmer! “

feiffer consult and Neue Landwirtschaft interviewed experts about possibilities and strategies.

„DKB Landwirtschaftspreis 2008“ awarded

The research, consulting and service company feiffer-consult from Nordhausen got third place in the competition „DKB-Landwirtschaftspreis 2008“.

According to the jury, the Thuringian enterprise mainly stood out due to the fact „that scientific researches and comprehensive experience from agricultural enterprises are put into practise as consulting services. The consulting services take up the challenge of higher resource efficiency on several levels, whether by staggering and selection of varieties, precision farming, high cut, or efficient use of combine harvesters.

Assessment of large-scale test – Pre-harvest siccation in rape

Pre-harvest siccation in rape using Roundup Ultra Max

Most farmers would cringe at the thought of driving through the rape with a pre-harvest siccation 14 days before the date of threshing. In their mind’s eye they see how the rape siliques of the upper area dehisce extremely well and leave a white track behind.   And actually it really looks like that. But is the damage really so high and when one should think about it?

Assessment of large-scale test – Semi-dwarf rape hybrids

Threshability of semi-dwarf rape hybrids

Im In 2006, the semi-dwarf PR45D01 was tested at two locations in Thuringia. It was compared to a normal straw hybrid from Pioneer or from another grower.  On average, the semi-dwarfs carrying the same or higher yields delivered an additional performance of the combine harvester by about 18 %.  On average, the fuel consumption was about 1 l/t lower than for normal straw hybrids.  The repetition of the test should show if the semi-dwarf also shows the stability for the results of the second year.
